The Disruptive Student: Addressing Incivility in the Classroom

Incivility involves more than bullying behaviors; rather, it encompasses any level of discord that disrupts the safety of a classroom and impacts learning (e.g., micro-aggressions, attention-seeking, passive aggressive behaviors). Objectives of this interactive: • Analyze internal and external factors that contribute to incivility • Develop an awareness of social-emotional strategies to assist with classroom climate • Demonstrate strategies that establish clear classroom guidelines as a preventative method • Identify and directly address classroom incivility and conflict • Explore available resources to support students and empower educators

This session will be simulcast (via Webex). A moderated chat room, will be provided, however, direct contact with the presenter(s) will not be supported through this session. Connection instructions for this event will be emailed to all participants the day prior to the event.
