Teaching Writing Intensive Courses

Wenger and Snyder (2000) explain communities of practice as “groups of people informally bound together by shared expertise and passion for a joint enterprise” (p. 139). This group will gather at CETL to share and discuss the unique opportunities and challenges found in teaching Writing Intensive courses. Useful discussion frames and resources specific to CMU's "WI" courses will be provided. Anyone who is, has, will, or may be teaching a Writing Intensive course is welcome. Objectives: Participants will have an opportunity to meet and connect with peers who have, are, or will be teaching Writing Intensive Courses; explore the issues and opportunities found in addressing WI curricular requirements; and develop ideas and strategies for succeeding in WI instruction.

Light Refreshments will be provided
