Tuesday, September 19, 2017 :: 1:00-2:00 PM

Intended Audience: CMU Faculty

Facilitated By: Marnie Roestel, E-Learning, Alexa Tyler, E-Learning, and Pei-Ju (PJ) Liu, Center for Instructional Design

In an online course, students and faculty can sometimes struggle with creating authentic, interactive experiences. This training will help faculty learn how to build strong, active, student-driven communities within the virtual classroom. Attendees will participate first in a discussion exploring the importance of 'community' in an online environment and how it impacts both learners and faculty. This will be followed by a presentation of three tools that foster activity and conversation in the online classroom which build a strong sense of community between students and faculty.
