Assess, Inform, Engage, and Promote Learning with Top Hat - ONLINE

Friday, October 20, 2017 :: 1:00-2:30 PM

Intended Audience: CMU Faculty

Facilitated By: Brian Roberts, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

In this comprehensive and interactive session, participants will be introduced to formative and summative assessment strategies that can increase student engagement, and inform and promote deeper learning opportunities through the use of a single technology. While the pedagogy will be broad reaching, the presentation and hands-on learning will revolve around the pedagogically sound implementation of the Top Hat Classroom/Audience Response System. Participants will leave with a solid understanding of how to; organize and create content, utilize the many and versatile question and interaction types, deliver content in both synchronous and asynchronous environments, assign correctness, participation, and attendance points that are easily transferred into the Blackboard Grade Center. Additionally, attendees will learn what they and their students or audience members need to do before using the Top Hat in a classroom or a more general audience environment.

This hour session will be followed by an optional half hour "Stay and Play" in which support staff will be available to answer questions and assist participants in creating content of their own.
