Intended Audience: Faculty, Graduate Teaching Assistants, and Administrators - Please, note that Dr. Freeman is a biologist. As such, much of the content, examples, practices, and outcomes shared will revolve around STEM courses. To a great extent, active learning research is dominant within STEM fields, but much of it can be applied to other disciplines. Attendees are welcome from any discipline.

This session focuses on data from an introductory biology course at the University of Washington and STEM courses throughout the world. The question is how innovative course designs impact all students, and especially individuals from groups that are historically underrepresented in STEM.
